Cotswold Outdoor

Our business is built around the customer, a shared love of the outdoors and our desire to provide the best service, best experience and the right kit for any adventure. We’re a growing company with great prospects and our people are key in helping us achieve our ambitions. If you join our team you’ll not only be joining one of the largest outdoor retailers in the UK, you’ll become a member of our outdoor family.

We run in depth training courses which cater for all, whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced outdoor enthusiast, you can add another string to your bow when you take part in courses like:

  • Winter Skills
  • Mountain and Hill Climbing
  • GPS, Footwear and Camping academies

With the help of our qualified instructors our colleagues are able to test out the latest products in the environments they were designed for, giving you the tools needed to provide our customers with excellent advice during their visits.

Our colleagues are always planning their next adventure whether it’s a climb, trek or run. It’s this first-hand experience and knowledge that gets passed on to our customers and helps them make informed decisions on the best product for their needs.

At O&CC we truly value what our colleagues have to say which is why you’ll have the opportunity to put forwards your comments, ideas and thoughts at our Colleague Voice forum. Our colleagues bring a variety of experience to the table and we believe this is a key contribution to organisational success.

Why I Climb

We think O&CC is a great place to work; somewhere you can share your passion for the outdoors with other like-minded people, but we want our colleagues to feel valued and rewarded. So here’s a few things we offer as standard, plus a few extras we think our colleagues deserve:

  • Base salary that’s competitive with similar roles in the area
  • Staff discount which provides discounts of about 40-50%
  • Pension scheme
  • Up to 33 days holiday (inclusive of bank holidays)
  • Bonus or incentive scheme which rewards company and personal performance
  • Opportunity to take on an apprenticeship
  • Discounts with our partners such as the National Trust
  • Cycle to Work scheme

Exploration was very different in 1974.  Outdoor kit was heavier, less adaptable, and less effective.  Only a lucky few could call themselves “adventurers”.  Since then we’ve walked into a world straight out of science-fiction.

We have tents that weigh less than 1 kilogram, watches that can navigate and ultra-warm jackets that fold into their own pockets.  But there are a few things that haven’t changed.  Our commitment to expert service, cutting-edge technology and having the widest choice of kit are the same as ever.  Where you go with it – what adventures you have – is up to you.
