The Buying Manager will:manage the buying team and product categories to enable Outdoor & Cycle Concepts Ltd to maximise sales, grow profitability, enhance the margin and customer satisfaction. ensure that the Snow & Rock and Cotswold Outdoor remain the market leading outdoor and snow sports retailer in the UK. work with the Merchandising Manager to ensure that there is a clear plan for evolving the ranges to meet the changing needs of both Cotswold Outdoor & Snow & Rock customers. work closely with the Buying Director to ensure that the agreed strategy is delivered, we meet deadlines and that we have process alignment across the Buying & Merchandising team.
ResponsibilitiesWith a role at O&CC you will play an important part in our mission to inspire and support people to get outside. As a Buying Manager your key responsibilities will include:Planning Working closely with the Merchandising Manager to deliver profitable departments. Defining future season strategies and financial plans with the Merchandising Manager always aiming to be a full price retailer. Driving the seasonal review and analysis with the Head of Merchandising on the previous season and capture lessons learned.
Managing grading and assortment planning. Ensuring that buying and merchandising plans tie in with financial stock targets (sales, stock and intake). Driving and managing the sign off and seasonal review process. Working closely with the Merchandising Manager to ensure that we have a positive return on space and that we are applying the correct seasonal mix for each category.
Overseeing range development ensuring the product reflects the brand strategy and the season is logically and commercially thought through. Working closely with marketing, retail, visual merchandising and Omni Channel to generate and communicate the seasonal B&M strategy and key product direction. Supplier ManagementManagement of suppliers to deliver improved terms and marketing support to drive best prices and promotions for customers and beat margin budgets; whilst ensuring suppliers deliver operationally in terms of availability, stock holding and support for stores and online. Development and execution of a robust Buy For Less Plan including maximisation of commercial terms and marketing income and ensure that supplier terms are utilised to hit company targets.
The TeamLeading, coaching & developing to help the business to facilitate internal promotion, strengthening of the teams and build a succession plan. Supporting and coaching members of the team as appropriate and deputising for the Buying Director where appropriate. Agreeing objectives with direct reports, managing their performance, conducting biannual performance reviews, provide advice and guidance so they can work effectively and develop within their roles. TradingReviewing weekly trading performance and achieved KPI’s with buyers and identifying Issues and the course of action in preparation for the weekly trading meetings.
Proposing and agreeing actions to recover risk and maximise opportunities with the Head of Merchandising at category and line level. Working closely with the merchandising team to ensure delivery of stock and availability KPIs. Mitigating future trading risks and maximising opportunities with the Merchandising Manager. Driving trading activity to achieve planned sales and profit.
Working closely with the Head of Marketing to plan the season’s trading & activity calendar. TeamworkEngagement of other functions in the company to gain their buy in and support to drive the business objectives. Working with the buying and merchandising teams to deliver the plan. Having a very close relationship with the L&D team to influence the seasonal product, category and brand training requirements.
Establishing and strengthening working relationships with Store Operations, VM, Marketing, Finance, Warehouse etc. Working with online team to optimise the website performance, look and feel.
